I am smack dab in the middle of Toni Morrison's
novel Jazz, which I am teaching to undergraduates
in a Jazz and Blues Literature class. Thanks
so much for the descriptions of both the new
Gregory and the Lowen text--it clarifies much more
of the historical context for the novel. Morrison's
portrayals of migration (and this is also true in
Paradise, although to a lesser degree) acknowledges
the importance of the sequential migration pattern.
